The agreement, in plain language.

You need an account.

All purchases create an Aperture account. You can sign in with Google, magic-link email, or username and password.

Eighteen or older.

Aperture is for adult practitioners. If you're under 18, please don't create an account.

Where the service is available.

Globally, with payment processed in USD or your local currency where Paddle supports it. Paddle, our Merchant of Record, handles sales tax and VAT as the legal seller. Some jurisdictions may restrict use; you're responsible for compliance with your local law.

Aperture is in beta.

The platform is functional and we charge for it; it's also evolving. Features may change. Bugs may surface. We disclose this honestly in the "Beta" tag on every surface.

What this means for you.

Existing functionality continues to work; we don't break things you depend on without notice. New features may be added, refined, or occasionally rolled back.

Paddle is the Merchant of Record.

When you buy an Aperture subscription or session pass, your purchase contract is with Paddle (paddle.com), our Merchant of Record and the legal seller of record. Paddle handles payment, tax, invoicing, fraud prevention, refunds, and chargebacks. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's checkout terms; your use of Aperture is governed by these terms.

Tiers and pricing.

Per /pricing. Annual subscription, monthly subscription, single-session unlock, and 3-session bundle. Institutional pricing available on request.

Rate locked at signup.

Continuous subscribers keep their original price for the life of the subscription. We don't bump prices mid-subscription.

Auto-renewal.

Annual and monthly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel any time. The renewal charge is processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record. At signup, you agree to the auto-renewal terms at Paddle's checkout, where Paddle captures and holds the express consent that California's Automatic Renewal Law requires. Before an annual renewal charge, Aperture also emails you a reminder showing your plan, the amount, the renewal date, and how to cancel.

Cancellation.

Cancel any time from Account → Billing, which links directly to Paddle's cancellation flow. No phone call or support request is required. Annual subscribers keep access through the end of the paid term.

Fourteen-day window if you haven't used the deck.

Within 14 days of purchase, you may request a full refund if you have not yet used the deck for a session, meaning either no session has been created, or any session created is still scheduled for a future date. Once a session date has passed, refunds are not available.

How to request.

Email [email protected] with your order details. Refunds are issued by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, to your original payment method, typically within 3 to 5 business days for cards and around 48 hours for PayPal.

What you can do.

Use the deck for your own facilitation, coaching, teaching, or leadership work, with the people you work with. Share session links with your participants. Build your own Selections from the curated library. Individual images carry their own upstream license (often Creative Commons). You may use them on those terms, including outside the platform. See § 7 and the Acceptable Use Policy.

What you can't do.

Bulk-extract or scrape the curated deck (its selection, arrangement, taxonomy, or metadata) by automated means or systematic copying, whether to build a competing deck or for any other purpose. Resell access. Reverse-engineer the platform. Use the platform to violate law or another person's rights. (This restricts extraction of Aperture's curated arrangement, not your use of individual images under their own license.)

Participant conduct is your responsibility.

As the facilitator, you set the frame for your sessions. If a participant misuses the platform during your session, you address it; we provide tooling to support that (session pause, session delete).

You own what you make.

Selections you build, session configurations, and any text you add are yours. We do not claim ownership.

A narrow license to operate the service.

You grant Aperture the minimum license needed to host, display, and process your content to provide the service. We don't license your content for promotion, training, or any other purpose.

Participant submissions.

When you record picks for debrief, the picks and their aggregate are your facilitation data, session-scoped and visible only to you. Within the aggregate, picks are tied to a pseudonymous per-session token rather than a name, unless you turn on "Collect names." Aperture-as-company never reads individual picks, never reveals who picked what, and never uses this data for its own purposes. See the privacy policy for the full participant-data model.

The curated deck.

Image selections are curated by John Weng under Bricolas LLC. The curation (the selection, ordering, taxonomy, metadata, and validation methodology) is Aperture's intellectual property as a compilation. The individual images are not owned by Aperture; each is licensed under its own original terms (often Creative Commons), and attribution is provided where required. Protecting the curated arrangement does not restrict your use of the individual images under their own licenses.

Trademarks.

Aperture, the Aperture iris mark, and "Aperture Studio" are trademarks of Bricolas LLC.

Termination by you.

Cancel any time. Account closure available in Account → Account Deletion.

Termination by us.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate these terms. Where reasonable, we give notice and a chance to cure first.

What happens to your data.

Your account and saved work are retained while your account is active, including after you cancel a subscription. You can delete your account, with all sessions and Selections, at any time; deletion is total, with a 30-day grace window to cancel or export first. Full retention model in the privacy policy.

Service provided "as is."

We don't warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that specific outcomes will result from using the deck. We make reasonable efforts to provide a reliable service.

Limit of liability.

To the extent permitted by law, Aperture's total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the platform is capped at the amount you paid for Aperture through Paddle in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Courts, not arbitration.

If we have a dispute we can't resolve directly, you can bring it in court. We don't bind you to arbitration and we don't require class-action waivers.

Governing law.

California law governs these terms. Disputes are brought in California state or federal court, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you the right to a different forum.

Changes to these terms.

If we make material changes to these terms or to subscription pricing, we notify affected subscribers by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and post the updated version with a new date. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.

Severability.

If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

Entire agreement.

These terms, together with the privacy policy and other linked policies, are the full agreement between you and Aperture about the service.
