The practice came first.
The deck came from it. After years of doing facilitation, coaching, and group relations work, the deck is the artifact of the practice. Not the practice itself.
01 The practice.
The practice that produced Aperture is leadership development work, with a particular grounding in group relations. The Tavistock tradition of working with groups as systems-in-the-room, where what's spoken and what's not-yet-spoken both matter. Coaching, consulting, facilitation, classroom teaching, conference work. Across over a decade, in rooms ranging from MBA cohorts to executive offsites to weekend group relations conferences.
The deck is downstream of all of that. Years of watching what an image lets a group say that words alone don't. Years of facilitator-to-facilitator conversations about which decks worked and which didn't.

02 Why a deck.
The existing image-deck tools didn't do what the practice needed. Some were small physical decks, finite and limited. Some were larger digital collections without curation philosophy. Some were research-grade instruments priced and packaged for institutional buyers only.
What was missing was a deck where every image had been validated, where the criteria were published, where the practitioner could see the curation work and trust it. Aperture is the answer to that gap.
03 The named curator.
The named curator is John Weng. The work happens under Bricolas LLC, his leadership development practice. The deck is curated continuously, with public methodology and named accountability. Credentials and biographical detail sit on Curation, for readers who care to look further.
04 What's next.
The deck keeps growing. Validation happens continuously, new images enter when they pass the protocol, retired images are logged. This section surfaces the most recent activity.
